Project 3

Beirut Port Reimagined

Urban Regeneration · Infrastructure · Speculative Design

After the horrible Beirut Port incident on August 4th 2020 causing one of the biggest explosions in the world that left the city of beirut in debris and its citizens homeless, actions had to be taken in order to revive the city and rebuild it’s port aiming for a better futuristic vision. Under the theme of performative and hi-tech architecture, my project portrays innovative solutions and systems that can be implemented.

Client:

Jezzine, Lebanon Municipality

My Role:

research, concept ideation, design

The proposal integrates hi-tech, performative architecture with large-scale urban planning strategies to transform the port into a multifunctional city-port interface. Logistics, mobility, public space, and ecological systems are designed to coexist, reinforcing the port’s role not only as an economic engine, but also as an active part of Beirut’s urban life.

At the core of the project is an innovative container terminal system, featuring a magnetic-levitation rail network that transports containers efficiently across the port, significantly reducing truck dependency, congestion, and emissions. This system improves operational performance while supporting a cleaner and more sustainable logistics model.
